Let me tell you, coming home to my Play! By Sephora Box after a long day never gets old. Every time I get that email saying it has been shipped, I rush home everyday to see if it has arrived yet and when that day comes, it’s always just as exciting. The first thing I do is bolt inside and crack that baby open. So let’s take a look at what this month had in store for me!
Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Water Mineral-Rich Atomic Heat Mask
Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Water Mineral Rich Atomic Heat Mask
Try to say that one 5x fast! That’s quite the name as well as it is quite the mask! I absolutely adore this product. I have been dying to try this out so when I saw that I received a mini of it this month I could not contain myself. It had to be the first thing I tested out. This mask was so hydrating and not the kind where it looks like it worked but really it just glossed your face kind of hydrating. No. The real deal kind of hydrating. My skin was so smooth, plump and just glowing after using this mask. It gives a warming sensation (not burning) which I guess explains part of the name. I study chemistry so I am now super interested to look more into this product’s composition to see just how it does this because it was so cool! I can’t get over it. Anyway, I highly recommend this product to anyone, no matter the skin type. Especially with winter approaching, I definitely see myself investing in this mask.
Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream
Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream
This water cream is extremely hydrating and beneficial for the skin due to it containing both hyaluronic acid and tamarind extract. Hyaluronic acid is popping up in skincare products everywhere. This is because it works much like a magnet for moisture. Helping your cells retain as much moisture as possible, allowing your skin to feel and appear hydrated, plump and healthy. I also love that this product contains tamarind. Tamarind is an excellent inflammatory so it is great for calming any irritation of the skin. (As a side note I regularly drink tamarind for its many health benefits). But enough of all the technical talk… bottom line is this cream truly performs well. I’m not sure if I’m ready to make the swap from my current moisturizer for this one but we’ll see how I feel once I reach the end of my sample.
Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
I wasn’t too excited receiving this in my box this month but only because I had received it a previous month not too long ago. I was hoping for another product that would be new to me. For the product itself I do like this primer but I’m not sure if I can say that it holds my makeup intact any longer than any other primer I have tried before. In all honesty I’m just not a big fan of primers, I know many people swear by them and can’t live without them but for me I don’t exactly notice a difference. What I do like about this primer more than some other I have tried is that it leaves your skin hydrated and dewy. I much prefer this finish than those of silicone based primers.
Nudestix Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Kiss
Nudestix Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil
I’m not a big lipstick user especially when it is matte because I find them to make my lips appear smaller as well as emphasize all the fine lines in my lips. If I had naturally full, plump lips then maybe I would like matte lipsticks. With that being said I was a bit more surprised with this lip pencil than I am with most, it wasn’t as drying as Kylie’s matte liquid lips if you have tried those. When I use this I apply a clear gel lip balm underneath which totally takes away from the intense matte effect but I’m okay with that. The color is pretty much the same as the swatch shown in the picture above, it’s slightly brighter on me but I do have naturally pretty bright lips so not the best base when it comes to lipsticks. And as for a cheek pencil I did enjoy it for this purpose, it gave my cheeks a nice natural pop of color. I very much like cream blushes, I like how nicely they blend into the skin and this one really provided all of that for me.
Sephora Collection LashCraft Big Volume Mascara in Black
Sephora LashCraft Big Volume Mascara
I’m not sure if Sephora’s brand of makeup gets as much credit as it deserves. I have tried several products from their line and I never seem to be disappointed. This mascara has a similar brush to that of Too Faced’s Better than Sex. I love big, full mascara brushes because I’m always looking to add some more volume to my lashes. I also have a hard time finding mascaras that don’t run, even some waterproofs can’t seem to hold still on my lashes. The sample of this I received was not waterproof but it was somehow able to stay where it was applied without smudging or flaking. The mascara also washed off very easily so there was no need to repeatedly cleanse my eyes (which I hate having to do SO much).
Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Nectar
Flowerbomb Nectar by Viktor & Rolf
Sadly, we come to the last sample I received this month. There is always a bonus in your Play! By Sephora Box which in my experience has been either a perfume, hair mask/treatment, or shampoo/conditioner sample. This month I received a sample of Flowerbomb Nectar and I’ll start by saying that I’m not a huge fan of florals when it comes to perfumes, but this one is like the typical floral scent that I’m used to. It’s a very delicate floral scent but at the same time it has a sweet yet smokey sense to it. This gives the fragrance some serious personality which I really enjoyed.

It’s always fun seeing what other companies give out, especially when one carries brands that the other one doesn’t and visa versa.
